"Text-to-speech technology has become the latest buzzword in the navigation industry because of its emphasis on safety. Since street names during guidance are spoken, drivers spend more time with their eyes on the road instead of their navigation display." Navigation systems have also joined forces with radar detectors to alert drivers to common speed traps ahead of time," says Landau.
